BSA Ultra

BSA Ultra - .177, compact ("snub-nosed"?) single shot.

I like the feel of this one; the fit, weight and balance are . . . . . very comfortable.  This pcp weighs in around 7 lbs with scope and its only 32 1/4" (82cm) long.  Out of the box, it had a very light trigger - too light; on occasion, it would not cock. This was easily rectified by increasing the sear engagement, very slightly, now it is very nice.

Completed testing.  This particular specimen prefers Beeman Kodiak Match pellets. This is a 33 shot group, distance 21 yards, copied (but still correctly sized) USBR bull:

USBR target, adjusted scope and once again at 21 yards, one shot per bull:

And finally the chrono report:

Hi 730.7, Lo 695.5, Av 718.5, Es 35.2, Sd 8.71

This rifle is producing 12 fpe for around 20-25 good shots (if I only took the first 20 shots into account the stats would look like this - Hi 730.7, Lo 720.3, Av 723.9, Es 10.4, Sd 2.84); very respectable for such a small air reservior.  It is quieter than a shrouded FX Cyclone, but not as quiet as a Webley Venom Viper turned down to 13 fpe.  Because it is too loud for my backyard, it has gone on to another home.
